Are Original Wild West products gluten free?
There are no grains containing gluten present in the following Original Wild West products:
- jerky seasonings
- sausage seasonings
- snack sticks seasonings
- bacon seasonings
- classic and salmon fish brines
- collagen, fibrous, and hog casings
- curing salt
- Caesar Teazer
Please be aware that gluten is present in other products manufactured on the same line and in the same manufacturing operation.
Why do some sausage seasonings come without cure packages?
Cure is not needed on fresh sausage such as Mild Italian, Hot Italian, Bratwurst, and Breakfast.
Do I have to add water to my ground beef jerky?
Adding a bit of water is optional, however it can aid in the distribution of seasonings and cure. If using a jerky shooter it will help lubricate the meat for easy extrusion.
Can fibrous casings be smoked?
Yes, fibrous casings are porous so the smoke flavour can permeate the casing.
Do collagen casings need to be soaked?
No, collagen casings are ready to use right out of the package.
